The Williamstown Historical Society is the only organization devoted
to preserving the history of the entire Williamstown community, with no funding
from the local or state government. We have a museum, of many pictures and
artifacts pertaining to Williamstown's past, which is open primarily by
appointment, May through October, by calling Becky Watson at 433-5451. We
rely on your support to continue our activities, which include:

Cataloging and archival preservation of items historically significant to
Williamstown
Exhibitions
Public programs on historical topics
Assistance to researchers
Consultation to teachers, town groups and other historical societies
Support Your Historical Society
Copies of "A History of Williamstown, Vermont: 1781-1991" are still
available (limited quantity) for $30 each, plus $4.50 shipping and handling.
We now have reprints for sale of the 1877 F.W.Beers Atlas of Williamstown,
size 11"x14", for $10 each, shipping included.

Payments of dues entitles you to participate in the direction of the historical
society's future. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month,
May through October.

(NOTE: Unless otherwise indicated, programs
start at 7pm after a pot luck supper/business meeting at 6pm.)
May 12 "What
brought me to Vermont.” A presentation by resident Paul Zeller.
Potluck dinner at 6 p.m.; meeting at 6:45 p.m.; and presentation at
7:30 p.m.
June 9 “History
of Potato Farming” a presentation by Bob and Barbara Chapelle.
Meeting and potluck dessert at 6:30 p.m. at the Gardens, program at 7
p.m.
July 19 (Sunday) Annual
Ice Cream Social Noon to 2 p.m. at the museum featuring a display of
antique autos.
August 8 (Saturday) Take a tour of some of our historic homes (TBA) from 10
a.m. to Noon.
September 8 “Early
Williamstown in Stereopticon Pictures” a presentation and slide
show with Richard Pettit. Potluck dessert meeting at 6:30 p.m.,
presentation at 7:30 p.m.
October 13 The
annual fiddling program. For many this is the program they most look
forward to. Potluck dinner at 6 p.m., Annual meeting at 6:45 p.m.,
Program at 7:30 p.m. |
